The following web page illustrates the objectives of Outdoor Technica over a five year period, to be accomplished by all members of the website team with the help of affiliate sponsors and other representatives. This web page may change as the website develops and moves forward.
This year is going to be one of the toughest for the website as it will be facing its initial launch. This means that we will have to push the website towards as many target audience members as possible. We will have initial support from some companies however we will only be able to maintain them when we gain results from the first year.
With the launch of the website, the goal is to make sure that we have a substantial amount of review material and content online for our readers to view. One of the main objectives of the site is to gain traction with social media and within the team itself, making it easier to move on to the next year. It is very unlikely that any revenue will reach us for the first year which is expected. However it will be crucial to showcase what can be offered in the form of marketing material.
This is the year that we will be monetising the website and focusing on revenue from previous and future content. It is important to note that the first year will not be without some revenue, however it will not be the main focus. This year will be focused on generating revenue via services and other means as are illustrated in the graphic below.
All sponsors who have already been advertising through our website in the first year will be negotiating continuing with their advertising with us based on the analytics of the first year. Any that decide not to continue with us will need to be filled in by other businesses where possible.
As the website continues to grow, we should be at a point where all topics would have been covered by reviews and other materials. This gives room for the website to specialise in specific topics based on what the team wants to do. It is important that the website does not lose more than 20% of the original topics based on what each team member wants to focus on. If more than one team member wants to cover a topic, it will become standard for that topic to be core to the website (majority specialises in it).
As the website reaches it’s third year, it will evolve towards being more specialised and catering specifically to that of which the team wants. This year will be an opportunity to reflect on what strategies worked best and focusing on what works for the website and removing anything that doesn’t.
If everything has worked as planned, the website will have reached a point where it is ready to expand both its audience but also the team to include other nations both in the continent and across the pond. The main focus will be to expand into Europe and potentially do the same in the United States. This year will focus on extending and trialling the team to expand the website’s reach and audience.
This will also be an opportunity to allow the team to work in other countries for marketing and product testing. It is worth noting that the website must be at a point where it is already profiting and being supported.
